Kanata comes from the Huron-Iroquois word meaning “village” or “settlement.” In the 1500s, French explorer Jacques Cartier misunderstood the word when it was used to describe a local community. Over time, that mistake spread across maps and records until Kanata transformed into the name of an entire country: Canada.

This hoodie reclaims the original word and returns its true meaning to the surface. Kanata is not just history—it is a reminder that the land we live on has always carried Indigenous languages, stories, and presence.
